2012-07-03 08:09

Buenos Aires - Argentina has handed Nelson Mandela's eldest daughter, Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, credentials as South Africa's ambassador to Buenos Aires, the foreign ministry said on Monday.

"The Argentine government has given diplomatic credentials to Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, as new ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Argentina," a ministry statement said.

Mandela-Dlamini, 53, is a businesswoman and the first of anti-apartheid hero Mandela's surviving children to go into public life.

She is a daughter of Mandela, 93, and his second wife Winnie Mandela.
Bilateral trade between South Africa and Argentina is worth about $1.3bn.

Mandela-Dlamini will replace Tony Leon who, according to the Sunday Independent, requested to return home ahead of his scheduled 2013 return.

These people are really keeping the top jobs for themselves. Why is Tony Leon returning?

"these people", seriously??? ? Read the article again to find out why tony leon is returning...eish, some people.

      sabongam - 2012-07-03 08:51

Mchhh huh, because he requested to return home ahead of his scheduled 2013 return. It says so in the report.

Haroid what do u mean by \these people\ maybe if u clarify who \these\ ppl are your statement might sound clever. why do u ask Tony why he wants to come back, what makes u think any of the ppl have the answer to that?

ok, let's hear it...how this is going worsen since a black person has taken this post?

  • Michael Lawton - 2012-07-03 09:09

Where is this negativity coming from. It's not as if Tony Leon had been doing a sterling job. Come on people get your heads out of your behinds.

Apart from the merits of the appointment, maybe the journalist responsible for the story should get his. her terminology right. A country grants aggrement for the appointment of an envoy and upon arrival the envoy presents credentials to the Head of the receiving state. If this was taken verbally from the department's press declarastion it shows a remarkable lack of knowledge!

She is also her mother's girl - i would watch out. I guess the name qualifies her for the top position.

Oh my, not another ding bat in the form of sisie.
