Matatiele continues to wait

Johannesburg - The Constitutional Court has reserved judgment in the application by the community of Matatiele to be reincorporated from the Eastern Cape back into KwaZulu-Natal.
The court spent Thursday hearing argument about whether there had been enough public hearings in KwaZulu-Natal on the demarcation.
Alastair Dickson, representing 10 applicants including the Matatiele-Maluti Mass Action Organising Committee, asked the court to strike down the Constitution 12th Amendment Act relating to Matatiele.
This, he said would be the "most justified and equitable thing to do for the community".
Hundreds of people drove from Matatiele to Johannesburg to listen to the hearing.
They said they wanted to be incorporated back into KwaZulu-Natal because they had not been consulted on the demarcation of the area, and that KwaZulu-Natal offered better services than the Eastern Cape.
