Mbalula mum on ambitions
Durban - ANC NEC elections head Fikile Mbalula said he would wait for "the appropriate moment" to decide whether to run for the party's secretary general position.
"I will answer that question at the appropriate moment in time," Mbalula told reporters at the ANC's national general council held in Durban.
"I will answer that question to branches of the ANC. When I have answered that, I will come back to you."
The ANC Youth League, which Mbalula previously led, has been lobbying for him to replace current secretary general Gwede Mantashe at the ANC's national conference in 2012.
Mbalula denied that anyone in the NEC was campaigning for positions and blamed the speculation on faceless sources in the media.
"I've never spoken to anyone on the record who said 'this is what I want' - you are talking to people with balaclavas," he said.
He added that he had no disagreement with Mantashe.
