Minister welcomes new deputy
Johannesburg - International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane has welcomed her new deputy minister, Marius Fransman, saying he had a strong record of delivery and innovation.
"We stand ready to work together with Mr Fransman in the execution of our country's foreign policy mandate," Nkoana-Mashabane said in a statement.
Fransman is one of two deputy ministers in the department. The other is Ebrahim Ebrahim.
Nkoana-Mashabane also thanked the outgoing deputy minister, Susan van der Merwe, for her "outstanding contribution and dedication" since her appointment in April 2004.
Fransman was appointed in a cabinet reshuffle announced by President Jacob Zuma at the weekend.
