Maputo - Former Limpopo premier Sello Moloto has arrived in Maputo to take up his position as South Africa's new high commissioner to Mozambique.
The high commission said on Wednesday that Moloto would present his credentials to Mozambican president Armando Guebuza on Tuesday.
He replaced Dikgang Moopeloa, whose term ended in March this year. Moopeloa has since left the government service to work in the private sector.
Moloto was chairperson of the SA Communist Party from 2001 to 2004. He was premier of Limpopo province from 2004 to 2009, when he defected from the ANC to become Cope's Limpopo chairperson.
He left Cope earlier this year, but did not rejoin the ANC, according to ANC spokesperson Keith Khoza.
