Most ANCWL members support Zuma

2012-10-06 12:23

Johannesburg - Initial reports suggest the majority of ANC Woman's League members want Jacob Zuma back as party president, the organisation said on Saturday.

"There is consensus among seven of the nine provinces who support continuity within the organisation, and therefore support Comrade Jacob Zuma for the position of president," spokesperson Troy Martens said.

She said these preliminary trends were noted at an African National Congress Woman's League national executive meeting in Boksburg on Friday.

The president of the league, Angie Motshekga, recently spoke to members across the country.

The members that favour Zuma in the position of ANC president - when elections for the position take place in Mangaung in December - also want Kgalema Motlanthe to return to his position as deputy president and Gwede Mantashe to remain as secretary general.

Martens said the Gauteng province did not contribute to the league's initial discussions as it was busy preparing for its provincial conference.

"Limpopo province differs in opinion as to who should be nominated in these positions."

The official nomination list would still be discussed at regional and provincial level before being submitted to the national executive council.

Martens said the league wanted three out of the top six officials of the ANC to be women.

"The ANCWL is an advocate of the 50 - 50 principal."

It is their party not national elections.

      nicholas.graan - 2012-10-06 14:02

Now you know why he hasn't got the guts to fire Angie Motshekga. He needs her to help feather his own nest regardless of the fact that she is overseeing the destruction of the public education system.

This must be because they all want to be wife number 6 7 8 9 10 and so on. so they to can have a house built on the 110 million rand estate with a atomic fallout bunker and helipad. Maybe they should all find work rather than prop up a terrorist regime.

  • Andre - 2012-10-06 12:38

It's really frightening that people who have supposedly a measure of intelligence, and should know and have experienced exactly how poorly Zuma has run his administration, still support him for a second term. It makes a mockery of democracy. They are unable to think and reason logically and individually. They are like a herd of wildebeests, they will follow their "leader" even if if he is charging towards a high cliff even if it means death and destruction to everyone!

  • mathivha.obert - 2012-10-06 12:40

ANCWL must take themselves serious & stop playing around if they need to earn some degree of respect. Any fool will realize that we really need humbled servant leaders who understand people's needs & aspirations, leaders with excellent integrity, skills & capabilities to carry the hopes of millions who are still trapped in chronic inter-generational poverty. Leaders who respect money, themselves and spare no appetite for exorbitant lifestyles as this hit hard on one's own moral & ethical standards. Leaders who carefully guard against the dangers of self-gratification & inflated egos which always push them on the defensive. Leaders who fears God in action & deeds, those who keep praying for themselves & their people so that they can remain focused & loyal to the cause for all glories belongs to God not unto them

  • willem.wulfse - 2012-10-06 12:47

Of course Zuma will be the preferred one. He didn't fire Angie Motshekga as he should have done. Had he done his job it would have been a totally different scenario. That much was predicted months ago.

  • adrian.louw.7 - 2012-10-06 13:41

Shame, those poor ANC voter ladies. Do they all fancy a chance of becoming another zuma wife? Bewitched, bothered, bewildered and bamboozled. The race and culture cards, all they know. Still, at least they vote. Better to vote than abstain.

      abedmakhi.mhlungu - 2012-10-07 14:34

you are the one of the mad person I ever seen, this mothers knows what good for us as their children. It our culture and freedom of choice for Zuma to have many wives and there is no problem about that. If we wish to insult him let insult him with something that does not linked to his culture.

  • Bluemoscow - 2012-10-06 14:18

That painting really did its job no wonder he was quiet about it. Women love bad boys and players so since jz is a number 1 player of south africa the women are going to want him. There goes South africa... Somebody needs to draw helen z. and the other african lady maybe the D.A will get more votes this time

  • jacobusdamon - 2012-10-06 14:22

Seems to me like Angie is already preparing to go into retirement at the Zuma Nkandla-compound! She's been canvassing too much for Zuma to my liking and she's still got that mess in the Education Department to try and clear up!!!

  • ntebu.mthi - 2012-10-06 14:27

Those ANCWL members have no care for the ANC or the country. They are just looking after themselves. They are backing Zuma not because he governs the party and country excellently but because they get to keep their government posts and with the promises of obtaining state jobs and tenders, sheilded from corruption prosetution -etc is what drives their actions.

  • sphamandla.s.ntshangase - 2012-10-06 14:45

Julius is a young men who dont understand how polotics work.....he will be very lonely after Mangaung and prison cell will be waiting for him.

  • Michael - 2012-10-06 15:25

Not only ANCWL wants Zuma, even more members in the ANCYL need him back as reasons for leadership change is based on factionalism agenda to protect illdisciplined cders, strugle for economic freedom will continue and ANC support us on that issue, that was not the reasons some members were expelled, cdres were expelled for lack of organizational discipline. ANC is bigger than all of us.

To all oMama be-ANC this minster Angie Motshekga have failed all your children in Limpompo. For the third time the court has asked her to amend/corrected this problem. This is not a person who should be leading our women's league. She want Zuma to be president because he did not firing her and she in return will bring him the ANCWL vote. I ask the ANCWL not to accept this cause the blame for all the problems the country is facing are going to be partly laid on you, for voting for Zuma. When the organisation start loose votes know that you are also to blame. You can't fool the public all the time. People can see for themselves that this president is corrupt and only our leaders in government can't see this. Our mothers should right from wrong

Have we seen or heard them speak up against rape NO, Have seen them speak out about the text book saga NOPE Have we seen them speak up about the barbaric crime NOPE AGAIN. Did we see him speak out about zuma's spear......HELL YES, they came out guns blazing it really excited these mamparas. They too scared to stand up and do the right thing and I believe maybe they are waiting in the wings for a zuma to beckon his spear.

though the idea of keeping zuma is one of the brilliant Ideas to the movement, however technically there must be change. The position of the Deputy P must be taken by Ramaphosa and the position of the Treasury must also be occupied by Zweli Mkhize. We respect the effort of Kgalema and we truly trust him but his views are against with the views of the movement, that our forefathers and mothers died for. Therefore we no longer have trust in him and we feel that he is just a toy in his position, if you don't agree with me then answer me what rolled he played when the situation of Marikana happened because he was an Acting President of the Country while Zuma was away. He was suppose to make sure that he handled the situation and excel in it, not to cost our Zuma to come back and sort out the situation himself. It tells everyone that Zuma has no Deputy and South Africa is in severe danger when Zuma is not around. Goodbye Kgalema goodbye. he can make his fb campaign but as KZN, Bloemfontein, North West we've already want him out, he can keep is poor limpompo, we don't care because it under fools control.
