Middelburg - ANC delegates sang and chanted in support of President Jacob Zuma on Thursday at the Steve Tshwete municipality's banquet hall in Middelburg.

Mpumalanga is holding its conference to nominate candidates for the African National Congress elective conference in Mangaung next month.

A total of 469 delegates from across the province, which is a Zuma stronghold, attended and were clad in party colours and T-shirts.

They belted out pro-Zuma songs, with two fingers in the air, indicating their support for a second term for Zuma.

They sang "... si hamba no Zuma thina, a sina mehloni... (we are going with Zuma, we are not embarrassed)" and "u ya khala uJuju, u ya tetemela, mnigeni idummy... (Juju is crying, he's shivering, give him a dummy)".

Premier and party provincial chairperson David Mabuza was expected to open the conference.
