Mpumalanga premier, DA to meet

2012-07-02 18:46

Johannesburg - Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza has agreed to meet the DA to discuss the proposed youth wage subsidy, the party said on Monday.

"The DA requested the meeting as part of our efforts to lobby premiers across the country... in endorsing the wage subsidy," Democratic Alliance MPL Anthony Benadie said in a statement.

"The implementation of the youth wage subsidy... would stimulate the province's economic growth, and create a better life for its people," he said.

Mabuza would meet the DA on Tuesday. His spokesperson Zibonele Mngwango could not say what was on the agenda.

Benadie said Mabuza promised sustainable job creation initiatives every year, but the programmes failed to create jobs.

Many young people left Mpumalanga to look for work or pursue tertiary education, then never return to the province.

"Implementing the youth wage subsidy will not only acknowledge the extent of the youth unemployment crisis in Mpumalanga, but also commit government to giving young people the opportunity to gain valuable work experience," said Benadie.

Tankiso... I dont see any ANC condom comrades doing anything to implement it. Indeed, they dont want to upset Cocksatu. Stop attending wood work class.

      Cape - 2012-07-02 20:24

@Tankiso Does it really matter who came up with it? Just fn implement it! People are suffering while government sit in their ivory palaces! Empower the poor through education and experience, it's a no brainer.

Sorry,Tankiso: I think you were asleep. You certainly weren't reading newspapers. The DA came up with the idea: the ANC only adopted it.

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-03 09:24

The DA came up with the concept. The ANC vetoed it, but rehashed it, renamed it and then announced it. Like an author plagiarizing another's work and then taking the credit for it. The whole show is a comedy of errors - government is just stumbling from one gaffe to the next.

We have no water in ehlanzeni, no one seem to notice this, youth subsidy without water is just bs

      denise.ryan.5203 - 2012-07-02 19:19

Hadebe - Tell me what has the ANC done for you lately?

      Hadebe - 2012-07-02 19:58

Denise, why da is so obsessed with the youth subsidy? Who stand to benefit from this? DA has a record of pushing the interests of the minority here, i said the majority doesnt have water, does da care abt that? No, it only affects the majority, thats why they are scrambling for the subsidy, the economy holders will benefit from it, immensely, so the question is who are they? You can call me an idiot its okay, but please answer the question first.

      smili.fication - 2012-07-02 20:05

Hadebe... the DA will provide good paying jobs for the majority. So they can pay for water...

      Hadebe - 2012-07-02 20:10

Smili, u cant pay for something u didnt receive, i gues wherever u are, u use water then u pay. Rite?

This is great news, we also need a work for food program in Mpumalanga instead of grants that are just handed out. The roads to the beautiful Kruger National Park looks like dump sites, especially Numbi road. People can start to do a clean-up of the streets instead of waiting for handouts.
