Johannesburg - The North West department of health has transferred a R685m conditional grant to districts, the department said on Thursday.

This was done to promote district-based planning, improve services and enhance local accountability, spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane said.

The purpose of the grant from the national Treasury was to subsidise programmes against HIV/Aids, sexually transmitted infections and tuberculosis.

Lekgethwane said roadshows to orientate districts on the conditional grant had already started.
