Bloemfontein - The ANC in the Northern Cape on Wednesday welcomed the provincial task team appointed to rebuild the party's youth league.

The ANCYL disbanded its provincial executive committees (PECs) for Limpopo, Free State, North West, and the Northern Cape earlier this month.

The move followed an assessment by its national task team.

Northern Cape ANC secretary Zamani Saul said the party was confident the provincial task team (PTT) appointed was a "fair mix" of political experience, energy, stability, and political consciousness.

Saul said the ANC would work with the PTT for the 2014 elections to ensure the youth supported the ANC's election campaign.

"We would give them all the support that they need to take the youth league to conference as soon as they are ready."

The task team should remind the youth in the province of its twin responsibilities - to champion the interests of young people and to rally them behind the ANC's banner.
