Nzimande was never an IFP member: SACP

2012-06-19 22:23

Johannesburg - The SA Communist Party has denied reports that its secretary general Blade Nzimande was a former Inkatha Freedom Party member.

"Occasionally in the run up to major congresses of our organisations this allegation and others are thrown up with an intention to tarnish the name of the general secretary of the SACP," spokesperson Malesela Maleka said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Comrade Blade's record of struggle is there for all to see."

The SA Communist Party was reacting to a report on Sunday that African National Congress national executive committee (NEC) member Tony Yengeni and Nzimande got into a scuffle at an NEC meeting last week.

It was reported that according to unnamed eyewitnesses at the meeting, the men were having a debate about former ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema's expulsion.

President Jacob Zuma’s parliamentary counsellor Siphiwe Nyanda reportedly told the meeting that people couldn’t speak freely because they felt they were under a dictatorship. Nzimande objected to this.

Yengeni took issue with Nzimande and told him that he "doesn’t know the ANC and its traditions because he’s originally from the IFP", according to a media report.

Maleka said the only way Nzimande could be isolated was by associating him with the IFP.

"The absurdity of this claim is also in its tribalistic undertones, building on [IFP leader Mangosuthu] Buthelezi's and the apartheid regime's claims in the 1970s and 1980s that all Zulus were members of Inkatha," he said.

"It is a repeat of the same script, because Nzimande is Zulu, therefore he was Inkatha. No shred of evidence has ever been produced to support this ludicrous claim," said Maleka.

The truth hurts but at sum stage it needs to be told!

      somikazi.pita - 2012-06-19 23:14

Why does it matter anyway if he comes from IFP? I don't get it really...

      phumi.ntlabati - 2012-06-19 23:38

It matters because he is imposing foreign tendencies of being intolarent to dcntin voices within our movement. Those tendencies r the halmark of the tribalistic and cultural organisation lik IFP!

      smili.fication - 2012-06-20 09:43

What ever phumi. You are such an idiot.

@Phumi i suggest you remove the picture of Steve Biko as your picture profile because you are a disgrace to Azapo and Black Consciousness movement as a whole.Biko stood against ethnic and tribalistic divisions and you are the one suffering from those illnesses.

\It is a repeat of the same script, because Nzimande is Zulu, therefore he was Inkatha. No shred of evidence has ever been produced to support this ludicrous claim,\ said Maleka.SAPA. Blablabla...if that's the case, why are all the other Zulu's in the ANC not accused as such?...bunch of tribalists!

This statement has got nothing with the proof of that Blade Nzimande was an IFP member. Its clear and openly that he was the full member of INKATHA FREEDOM PARTY,and contributed a lot in its formation.Which means that,he Nzimande has been killed our people in 1992.We cant trust this man called himself the communist while knowing that he was the counter revolutionary during the struggle. You can even see himself with that of his foreign tendencies of being intolarent and uselessly.

Zulus are now superior since the ANC is led by mostly zulus. Its almost as if other tribes don't exist. Once they get rid of all the whites, they gonna turn on minority tribes. They need to be stopped.

  • leko.dada1 - 2012-06-20 01:48

Right! he may deny, what matters most is the present...Nasty Blade is deadly swording destroying soul of the ANC.

nzimande was IFP MEMBER, why all the cry about it? Normally we know that the truth hurt so nzimande must be crying after OUR PRESIDENT JULIUS MALEMA AND NOT SELL OUT COMRADE TONY YENGENI revealed this to the nation.\r\n\r\nWe thank them, nzimande still have ipf tendencies even now. Nothing false about this, especially when said by his colleagues in the ANC

So former IFP member blade nzimande, for us not to believe that, you should have just laughed about it then we move on...but this escalating denial now tells us real truth because you are hurt by this.\r\n\r\nSo you clearly have IFP roots? No wonder you have that kind of behaviour.

  • collen.masetla - 2012-06-20 06:33

Pita said ''If blade is accused just because he is a zulu, then all ANC zulus were suppose to be accused by that'', i agree. So where there is smoke there is fire, blade was IFP MEMBER, you can see that from his behaviour.

ANC is a political party not a coven. It is ruled by a its costitution so anyone who is a subscribed member is equal to any member. What is a big deal about Cde Nzimande's political backround?U may find some were apartheid regime spies in the camps and are leaders of the movement at present. Some of us were not even present when the political parties were unbanned but we talk to much as if we were at the forefront df the struggle. Please leave Blade alone.
