Pallo Jordan: ANC in crisis

2012-09-08 10:32

Johannesburg - The ANC is facing a crisis because of internal corruption and a lack of dignity within the party, national executive committee member Pallo Jordan said according to a weekend report.

The Saturday Star reported that Jordan said during the Bisho massacre memorial lecture in King William's Town, Eastern Cape, on Friday that the African National Congress's credibility was at its lowest point in 22 years.

"The leadership of the ANC has been stripped of its dignity. The ANC has lost legitimacy," he said.

Jordan said the party needed a "dignified and moral" leadership to take over and clear out corruption.

One need to asses the comments made by ANC NEC members one by one as we head toward October and can tell the position every1 taking.

Took a little long for Pallo to figure this one out. But better late than never! Dancing for the next job?????

The word overseas are that the ANC is just another corrupt gangster type party.

      louis.olivier.988 - 2012-09-09 09:26

These anc crooks are afraid of losing power because the next ruling party is going to throw the book at them and jail time will be their future and they, the anc crooks know that. Make my words the anc will not give up power peacefully even if they are defeated at the polls. The only way of removing this corrupt vermin will be by force of arms. Most revolutionary organizations that come to power never give up power because they become too used to the luxury life style and will use their followers as cannon fodder that is how stupid their supporters are. This Palo Jordan is just getting in on the act to secure his future luxuries with whoever comes to power next. Where has he been for the last 18 years…. Asleep or too busy doing you know what. The anc is a sick corrupt party that should be banned again

      henryian73 - 2012-09-09 11:09

We in this crisis thanks to Malema who wanted to 'Kill for Zuma'. When the DA warned our nation to 'STOP ZUMA' Malema said we will kill for him and now. Our country have become the laughing stock of the world and all the top leadership in our nation only interested in their own back pockets and that includes Malema. Its not about the poor. They just being used for the power hungry and greedy lot stealing millions form us all. Where did all Malema's millions come from? In Limpopo you will find the answers. No school books for the poor but a few very wealthy leaders. And yet the millions follow blindly hoping he the hero to help them. If he was why did he pocket the miilions he did that was meant for the poor. Interesting times and yet the poor follow the corrupt like nothing.

  • lacrimosewolf - 2012-09-08 10:46

Their entire reign has been underscored by one crisis after another. The whole concept of collective applying of minds has resulted in nothing ever been done. Jordan's quite right; we are way overdue for someone to step-up and actually DO something

  • Jason - 2012-09-08 10:46

Jordan said the party needed a "dignified and moral" leadership to take over and clear out corruption. If that ever happens I might vote ANC!

  • justice.forall.7140 - 2012-09-08 10:56

This is wat happens when you vote for thugs, our leaders potray black people as incompetent leaders which is really sad, its a pity that in the modern world we lack true leadership, people are elected based on popularity not based on leadership skills and proper academic skills. If you go to some companies as well, a person is appointed a manager of department but cant even greet his people in the morning, what kind of leadership do we have in todays world, its embarrasing. Having said so i still believe there are competent leaders out there, a generation of people driven by vision to influence the world into a better place, whether its in Goverment, private sector or public, i still believe we have a generation of young and well educated deserving individuals to shape these country amd i mean BLACK and WHITE and all COLOURS.Even when i was at high school, when we voted for any form of leadership, people always liked to vote for big mouth individuals like Julius Malema and being a big mouth doesnt mean you are a leader. A leader must be a servant not an opportunist, leader must sacrifice for the sake of masses not sacrifice masses for own interests. We have a youth league that stages expensive bashes worth millions for 5 to 8 hrs of booze and women yet we have young people in the streets in need for bursaries to study further, youth leadership should mentor, equip and help young people to be a success.LEADERS WITH NO VISION, ITS SAD.

      justin.massyn - 2012-09-08 11:06

      Very well said!

      lacrimosewolf - 2012-09-08 11:13

A cornerstone of Leadership is *solving* problems and making sure things get done. These aren't leaders. They get elected on fear, awe and outright lies. Citizens need to be as any employer would - hiring people on their ability to deliver and fire them if they don't. What we have right now is a bunch of people who simply refuse to do the job that they were hired to do.

It is hard to believe that any credible person still wants to be associated witht the ANC.

      Vince.York - 2012-09-09 08:40

a large problem is that the cANCer has wide open doors to all entities from outside of SA regardless of race who can provide a quick buck in the back pocket, and local legislation RACIALLY CONTRA "SOUTH AFRICANS" WHO CAN DO BETTER prevents that interaction within SA. The ANC will be regarded correctly as the most racist regime in the world until they remove the legislation and only then the hard work and a LONG TIME will be needed to remove it from the national psyche! They are still string pulled by too many bitter & twisted racists in the background, that they cannot see the damage they are doing in trying to repeat past mistakes to rectify something. Rash comments by the ilk of for example Khaya Dlanga (an mbeki remorseful id), that "purple bleaters of reverse racism' are misguided is not the real case and there certainly should be any color employed based on the employers requirement and decisions! No state document should ever call for a classification tick, and no journalist should ever have to refer to a person by race or color, and only then SA will 'start' to breathe free from the bonds of racism Genuinely, two wrongs can never make a right, and the zuma's and little fatso's of this world need to be shown that when they have transgressed, they must atone for it in the courts, the face of the nation - OR have it fester as putrescence!

      Madhi - 2012-09-09 11:40

For the record, only the ANC can heal itself and no voters will. Remember that South Africans are generally racists - both black and white and people will continue voting the ANC just for blackness as much as no matter what the ANC can do, it can never win the majority of white people. So, no stepping down and just hold on to your seat for at-least another 20 years.

It's funny how every time a politician makes a statement it's just an affirmation of what everyone already knows. The ANC has been in crisis mode for years. It's just now that the media is more accessible and people are more aware that we are all finding out how bad it is, and has been all these years. No wonder they want to gag it. Our wonderful country is dying, the people are dying - all that thrives is the queue at the trough. Snuffling and grunting as they guzzle their way through the futures of many needy and desperate people. 800million in unspent health budgets? I wonder where that went - and how many died because of it - or how many businesses went out of business because of it? How the ANC has the gall to show their faces and make profoynd statements about the future - "the ANC will be in power till Christ returns" or "God wants you to vote for the ANC" is just beyond me. They obviously have no shame, nor any sense of morals - they are a pathetic disgrace.

  • siphiwo.maurice - 2012-09-08 13:51

Well said Com. Jordan. Something urgent, that needs to be done if the Movement wants to continue leading the people of SA to a better life. We cannot realise that dream under this leadership which scorns at its own people, bulldozing issues, forcing issues down the throats of ordinary people. In South Africa today, it's like everybody is standing by, watching this order, running amock, defending their connections, stealing from the poor, not caring for the young graduates, killing their own people, running away from urgent issues/situations, busy parading their wealth. We need a changed ANC. I still believe, it is the ANC, that has a progrssing national agenda to deliver people from poverty, but this cannot be done, under this leadership which is divided into whacks and doves.

This is another practical example that a black African man will never become a successful leader of any country in this planet, all they know is corruption, dictatorship, nepotism, murder, torture, destroying everything, greedy and all bad things under the sun. If we want to make south Africa a Sweden of the African continent give Helen zille power and she will show those ANC idiots how to govern a country, criticize me if you can but that's the truth and facts what I said.

      themba.thwala.98 - 2012-09-08 14:57

Ngobeni you claim that a black man cannot be a successful leader ... but also claim to be black and successful. I find that to be a very strangely twisted logic. I know of at least 2 black African leaders who have been successful. One of them is Nelson Mandela. Only if he had been younger, he would have had two very successful terms of leadership don't you think?

Yes iam successful at creating a good income for me, don't bring Mandela into this discussion because he's not an idiot like these current ANC leadership, it's a fact a black man does not know how to govern a country, just look at Zimbabwe and other African countries that are governing by black government and tell me if you see any good coming from these countries.

      themba.thwala.98 - 2012-09-08 16:01

Okay, I'll leave you out. But why must I not bring Mandela in? He was an African leader who successfully led SA, an African country, or wasn't he? keith.ngobeni - 2012-09-08 16:40

Arguing your statement by using only Mandela to highlight your examples it's called vulnerability, African continent has got 52/53 countries and out of all the leadership of these 53 nations you only see Mandela as a good leader that just prove my statement when I said a black man is clueless when it comes to lead a country. about your foul language Wena THWALA you learned it from your father because he was using it when abusing your mother.

      themba.thwala.98 - 2012-09-08 17:05

Ngobeni you generalised you idiot! You could have said Mandela was the exception! Instead, you painted him alongside all the corrupt and incompetent leaders of Africa. In your determination to prove your point, you also run to West, and seem ignorant of the fact that the West also had stupid leaders such as George Bush and Adolph Hitler. Lastly, what prophetic powers do you have to prove that SA will never reverse the current rot unless a white person becomes the President? What about people such as Lindiwe Mazibuko? The fact that you expect SA, a country in which black people are the majority, followed by coloured people, must be led by a white person after what apartheid did to black people, shows that you are psychologically damaged. Black people are the majority. It will be a cold day in hell before the majority voted for a white person to run the country after 18 years since apartheid was formally abolished. We must find competent black people who can lead the country alongside whites, in the best interest of SA, not of any specific group. If we find white people who can contribute to this realisation, that`ll even be great. But if you prefer white rule, go to Orania boet

THWALA, you understandstood my first comment very well but because you were trying to be a clever for nothing you showed your stubbornness, 18yrs in power it's long enough for any responsible government to come up with solutions that can help the citizens, but your ANC are doing the opposite, more people are living in dire poverty now than 30yrs ago, and you want me to still sing some praises to the ANC, you're not even 30yrs old but you're crying for the disadvantages of the past apartheid get real man ANC needs be voted out of power they have failed the people of south Africa.

      themba.thwala.98 - 2012-09-08 17:34

No you idiot, I did not understand your stupid point that SA must be governed by a white President.

      themba.thwala.98 - 2012-09-08 17:39

There you go again you idiot! I am not a member of the ANC and have not voted for them in the last 4 or five elections. I saw how the ANC was headed for the sewerage shortly after T Mbeki`s first term. But to say a white President must take shows how stupid and narrow minded you are. You don't understand SA`s history and the complexity of our society at all, or you would not be displaying such stupidity.

      keith.ngobeni - 2012-09-08 17:53

WENA STUPID THANDO, have you ever been outside south Africa before? Iam positive that you don't even have a passport, what struggle you're hallucinating about? You're one of those drop-out high school kids who were born in the eighties but claiming to have been disadvantaged by the apartheid, as long as you remain with no educational qualifications on your name you'll end up stitching trousers because of poverty, the corrupt ANC you're trying to defend is worthless to waste your energy on it, but imbeciles like you can't see that, yes south Africa need a new government like DA to move forward in the right direction wether you like it or not.

      keith.ngobeni - 2012-09-08 18:07

THWALA IDIOT IS YOUR PEANUT BRAIN, are you saying its ok for the ANC to destroy south Africa because they're black government? First it's you who don't understand and know your history very well, helen zille isn't not the same Helen who was showered with praises and accolades by the same ANC that is governing south Africa today before she formed the DA because of her hard work of exposing the brutality displayed by the past regime, now Helen is a enemy, racist etc because she went on to form a strong opposition political party, your problem is to do with a race it's not about making south Africa a better place for everyone, why did you stop voting ANC if you don't want a white woman to govern south Africa? Themba go to school so that you'll understand the world in a better way not in your shallow hell mind, Iam not going to respond to you anymore because you're a lost soul which needs help.

Keith there you go showing yo true mettle......stupidity!! Brief profile check: born in th mid 70's from a middle class family, went to THE private schools, went to varsity(UCT)...BSc:Civil Engineering. Worked for consultants, municipality......due to BEE got my own company. Im an owner of a very successful small/medium construction firm. I grew up in an environment where every 5 years we visited our relatives(exiles) in th UK, US, Europe......so check yo 'facts' before you spew yo crap all over this thread. The ANC is doing very well considering what the doomsdayers were saying. Albeit that, we can do more as the ANC to change the lives of the majority of our black Africans for the better.

Nah, a colour can never run a country, but only a competent person can run a country. It depends on the mind of that particular person and his/her suroundings. If u know the criminals, then the law must take its course. Busy talking about corruption, y don't u arrest the criminals? Remember, according to the constitution, nobody is bigger than or above the law.
