Pik warns of 'becoming a Zim'

Johannesburg - The Expropriation Bill was on Monday opposed by 15 civil organisations and political parties at a conference in Centurion, the Adhoc Group said.
The bill falsely focused on perceptions that owners of property in South Africa obtained such property unlawfully, the Adhoc statement read.
On the Expropriation Bill, former minister Pik Botha emphasised the importance to "join forces" against the Bill.
He said many blacks were victims of a bad policy by the African National Congress.
"We have to guard against becoming a Zimbabwe in this legislation," said Botha.
It also emerged in the conference that land in South Africa was an emotionally charged subject, the statement said.
The Department of Agriculture and Land Affairs came under fire and was accused of being "dysfunctional".
"There is a huge lack of funding and skills causing bad service delivery," the statement said.
The ANC' policy framework was also accused of alienating more people.
