Johannesburg - The two Agang SA members representing the party in Parliament have been given a notice of expulsion, Agang SA said on Thursday.

Spokesperson Jock McConnachie said Mike Tshisonga and Andries Tlouamma had been given notice of a possible termination of their membership of Agang SA and had until Friday to respond.

"The action follows their involvement in a meeting held last week which claimed to suspend party leader and president, Dr Mamphela Ramphele," McConnachie said in a statement.

Other party members who attended the meeting in Alexandra, Johannesburg, face disciplinary action for failing to respect the party's constitution.

McConnachie said the disciplinary action against Tshisonga and Tlouamma also stemmed from their involvement in laying fraud charges against Ramphele and the party's operating officer Andrew Gasnolar, before having brought their issues to the party.

Last month, Ramphele and Tshisonga opened separate fraud cases with police over a bank account opened to receive a refund from the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC), believed to be around R200 000.

At the time, Tlouamma said Ramphele was implicated in a fraud case and therefore unfit to lead the party until she was cleared.

He said Tshisonga, who is also the party chairperson, would be acting president until the charges against Ramphele were dealt with.

Tshisonga and Tlouamma were both members of Agang SA's former national executive committee.

The former NEC has been replaced by a newly-constituted NEC formed by a task team appointed by Ramphele after the elections.

"Tshisonga, Tlouamma and the other members of their faction reject the legitimacy of the newly-constituted NEC," McConnachie said.
