Modimolle - A Limpopo council has been ordered to reinstate three senior municipal managers accused of hiring an advertising company irregularly.
The Modimolle local municipal council backed down after the intervention by the ANC Waterberg region last week.
The ANC officials weren't convinced municipal manager Charles Powell, corporate services manager Kwadi Thobane and divisional manager of administration, legal and property services Khupa Lekala had to be suspended.
Regional ANC chairperson Geoffrey Molekwa said the party believed the appointment of one service provider couldn't result in the suspension of all the managers.
"Also, the council should have charged them first before suspending them. Procedures were not followed here," Molekwa said.
The Modimolle council lifted the suspension during a special council meeting on Friday.
The three managers were suspended on August 30.
Molekwa said that the ANC was not interfering in government issues but was only giving guidance to its deployees in the council.
Modimolle mayor Tsietsi Mohapi declined to comment about the outcome of Friday's meeting on Monday.
"I will only comment in a statement tomorrow [on Tuesday]. I don't want to contradict myself," Mohapi said.
Powell said he was not aware of the council decision and referred questions to Mohapi.
Thobane was not available, while Lekala refused to comment.
The company, whom the council declined to name, has already been paid more than R100 000 after allegedly being hired without proper tender procedures being followed.
