SACP wants Modiselle fired

Johannesburg - The SA Communist Party (SACP) in the North West province has called on the ANC to fire premier Maureen Modiselle, spokesperson Kaizer Mohau said on Sunday.
"If she is not fired by September 20, the SACP in North West will be reluctant to participate in the ANC's election campaign," he said, explaining that the party's provincial general council took this decision at its meeting at the weekend.
He said Modiselle has neglected service delivery in the province and was running the province "as a spaza shop" and was promoting factions in the province.
"Our province has been corrupted and compromised. We cannot have people drinking dirty water... while government coffers are being looted to promote factionalism in the province."
Mohau said that the only way the SACP could compromise on their resolution was for the province to reinstate Grace Bothman to her position as the MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture and the department be investigated.
Bothman was fired on August 16, for undermining Modiselle.
Finance MEC Louisa Mabe has been appointed to act on her position.
