Strike 'getting out of hand'

Johannesburg - The strike by security guards was "getting out of hand", Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula said on Wednesday.
"Indeed, it is true that the situation is now getting out of hand, but we are doing whatever is necessary to do to bring a halt to some of the activities that have become violent," he told the SABC.
His statement follows the death of six men who were pushed from a train in Benoni on Tuesday.
North Rand police said there was a possibility the murders were related to the strike by the SA Trade and Allied Workers Union (Satawu).
Nqakula told the SABC a team had been put together to investigate the murders and other incidents of violence around the country related to the strike.
"We are investigating and following up every lead to ensure that those who do not follow the dictum of government, which is in the first place that trade unions have a right to demonstrate, have a right to struggle for better working conditions, including salaries, that in spite of that there is no law that allows for the type of violence that we are seeing in the country."
