UDM sceptical about Zuma's 'second transition'

2012-06-18 20:29

Johannesburg - The United Democratic Movement expressed misgivings on Monday about President Jacob Zuma's "second transition".

"We see the African National Congress shifting the goal posts yet again," UDM leader Bantu Holomisa said in a statement.

"Is this 'second transition' Zuma Incorporated's attempt at designing yet another economic policy to be foisted on the nation?"

The City Press newspaper quoted ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe as saying the second transition referred to economic empowerment for the majority, just as the first transition meant political empowerment.

Earlier in June, Zuma opened the Northern Cape ANC provincial congress by encouraging delegates to discuss in detail the party’s policy discussion documents, with an emphasis on the "second transition" document, the newspaper reported.

Holomisa questioned this.

"Who is at the helm of the second transition?... We must talk economics and education; and by 'we' the UDM means all stakeholders - not only the ANC quasi-gurus of economics."

He said the problem was bigger than the ruling party and that presuming the elective conference was the place for such a debate was "arrogant and foolish".

Indeed UDM is Foolish they fail to realise that it is one thing to be trusted to Rule the Nation and quite another to be ruled or Governance!!! ANC is a Government Party and everybody is trusted with that Mandate!! Banthu Holomisa !! You Big Headed!!! You are still un able to talk on behalf of the Voice less, and that why you are in Opposition!! If you want to Join as an ANC member you free but not to Govern. ANC Government Policy worsh is actually manufacturing Policies to be used as Guide Lines under the Ospices of the MANDELA ANC and no Body else!! Unless and untill after People have voted again!!!!!!!!!

@mzondistanley.....you are forgetting this is a democracy....and that gives..Holomisa the absolute right to voice his opinion...he is not alone in his feelings about how badly the anc are doing....even on the ground...there are some anc members who are disgruntled with some major issues...you can not deny this...if you 100% happy with anc...you are part of the problem in your blind support.
