Veterans won't interfere with ANCYL

2011-10-26 14:45

Johannesburg - The Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans’ Association (MKMVA) will not interfere with the ANC Youth League's march programme, it said on Thursday.

Chairperson Kebby Maphatsoe told reporters in Johannesburg the organisation would not comment on ANCYL's economic freedom march.

"How they celebrate [former ANC president] Oliver Tambo's birthday is up to them," he said.

The MKMVA would hold its own celebrations of Tambo's birthday at Liliesleaf Farm in Sandton on Thursday.

Maphatsoe said United States civil rights leader Jesse Jackson would be the keynote speaker at the celebration.

Thank you Genl Deacon Mathe for setting an example to celebrate your history in a peaceful & civilized manner

      Servaas - 2011-10-26 14:30

ANCYL.. Take note of wise words.

      Levett - 2011-10-26 14:46

Yeah and take note that 'won't interfere with ANCYL' doesn't mean Deacon would'nt like to take a sambok and give that little tsotsie Malema the hiding his father never gave him. MKMVA is only keeping the peace in the ANC at this stage but I wonder for how long they going to be patient?

      Thandiwe - 2011-10-26 14:49

Let us grow economically - the ANC needs to help the country do business - no need for any of this nationalisation. Let us add to what is already in the economy, not tear down what makes money and rebuild it badly. I am an economically free black woman. I am under 30, hvave set up a successful small manufacturing business, I have a small-holding and a few shares in JSE companies. Don't let Malema degrade you by telling you you cannot achieve what you want to economically - we are free to participate and succeed - start your small business today. He wants to get richer -that is all he is interested in - if he wanted to help the poor he would talk about education and support job creating, investment boosting, confidence boosting economic policies!

So nice to see the older, WISER gents not mixing in with the rabble.

The young comrades must learn from this tried & tested comrades. We are celebrating OR's birthday, but we can't use this occasion to launch an attack at the very same ANC OR was leading by marching against the ANC-led government. What message are we sending to OR? I will be celebrating with MKMVA at Liliesleaf Farm. Thank you MKMVA for remaining disciplined cadres of the ANC.

Pity they dont celebrate by each Vet taking hold of these little brats and giving them a bloody good whipping with a sjambok! That would give us all something to celebrate

  • John - 2011-10-26 14:33

And how did Umkonte-Wil-Swiets-Hê think they will be able to interfere with the Joof Leak? The so-called "vets" were useless then with military training so the mind boggles when trying to visualize the extent of their incompetence today!

      Dewet - 2011-10-26 17:34

They had terrible training and access to resources compared to SADF . Batallion 32 consisted mostly of Africans with a few white special forces in senior positions and they were one of the most legendary units in Africa. In terms of the MK guys as opposed to the ANCYL: They put their lives on the line when they were completely outgunned and almost certainly going to die or be captured. Fighting not for money, but for freedom. A freedom which you probably never be alive for to enjoy yourself That takes real guts Give them some credit

Dewet - October 26, 2011 at 17:34 Ag please man, spare me the tear jerking BS of exiled freedom fighters as I have had first hand experience of their cowardly nature. Planting bombs in bars and spraying a church with bullets will never make them freedom fighters .......it does make them bumbling stupid terrorists abusing the hospitality of their host nations by acting like real idiots!

Nice to see Jesse Jackson visiting our shores again - anything to keep his self promoting ass in the spotlight. He makes me sick!

      Go see a doctor.
