Zuma drives ANC membership boost

2010-09-06 15:19
Mbombela - President Jacob Zuma is on a two-day visit to Mpumalanga in support of the ANC's drive to boost its membership to one million by 2012.

The visit started on Monday morning in Piet Retief, the ANC said in a statement.

On Tuesday, Zuma would conduct door-to-door visits and a walk-about in the Tandukukanya township.

Zuma visited the residents of Bultfontein, in the Free State, on Saturday.

It was reported last month that Zuma was concerned about rumours that ANC leaders planned to revolt against him at the ANC's national general council later this month, and was going to the provinces to win over ordinary ANC members.

However, the ANC dismissed the reports and said Zuma was merely doing his duty to ensure that the party reached its membership target.
