Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma arrived at Maputo, Mozambique, on Saturday to attend an "extra-ordinary" summit of the Southern African Development Community, the presidency said.

"The extra-ordinary summit in Maputo will be appraised of progress with regard to the facilitation process in the Republic of Zimbabwe," spokesperson Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

"In particular, consideration will be given to a roadmap to elections following the successful referendum held in February."

In May, African Union heads of state held their summit in Addis Ababa, Ethopia.

In the summit, the leaders considered the progress made in the implementation of decisions made during the Organ Troika Summit which was held in Cape Town on security and political stability in the region.
