Zuma off to Mexico for G20 summit

2012-06-15 18:07

Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma is to travel to Los Cabos in Mexico on Saturday to take part in a G20 Leaders' Summit.

International relations spokesperson Clayson Monyela said on Friday Zuma would be accompanied by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.

The aim of the meeting was to promote policy co-ordination, to ensure global economic stability and sustainable growth.

Monyela said in a statement South Africa would use the event to promote the G20 development agenda, and highlight issues such as support for infrastructure development locally and on the continent.

Gordhan is in the statement quoted as saying: "South Africa would like to push for policy commitments that deliver a credible growth strategy and boost job creation."

South Africa has been a member of the G20 since its inception in 1999.

At the conclusion of the summit, Zuma will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development.

So what is this trip going to cost? How many wives are going? How big is the entourage? How many ministers will be bringing drugs back and refusing to be searched?
