Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma will visit Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika this coming week, the presidency said.

"It is anticipated that the two presidents will have discussions on important regional and global issues of mutual concern, as well as to review the status of bilateral relations," spokesperson Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

The two were meeting for the sixth session of the bi-national commission.

Algeria was South Africa's largest trading partner in the North Africa region, Maharaj said.

Zuma would be accompanied by International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Agriculture Minister Senzeni Zokwana, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Human Settlements Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, Telecommunications Minister Siyabonga Cwele Trade as well as Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies.

They were expected to arrive in Algeria on Monday and return to South Africa on Wednesday.
