Cape Town - Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies on Thursday would not be drawn into speculating whether he would be one of the next ministers to lose their job.

"Ministers' jobs are at [the] pleasure of [the] president," he told reporters in Cape Town.

"If and when [president Jacob Zuma] makes the call, that's when I'll be able to talk about it. At the moment, I am still minister of trade and industry. I am doing the work of the ministry and it is business as usual for me."

Following the axing of Nhlanhla Nene as finance minister, a report emerged that other Cabinet members could soon follow.

Ministers who have been mentioned were Davies, Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe and Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande.

Attempts by News24 to contact Radebe and Nzimande have been unsuccessful thus far.

Zuma on Wednesday evening announced Nene would be replaced by African National Congress MP David van Rooyen.

He was sworn in as the new minister at the Union Buildings on Thursday.

Zuma said Nene would be moved to another "strategic position" which would be announced in due course.
