This week, a high court ruling dismissed an urgent application by the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa to be allowed at the Cosatu special national congress next month to argue against its expulsion. Numsa’s leaders will now only be able to state their case at Cosatu’s second conference in November, a year after the union was expelled. Numsa held a joint press conference with eight other allied unions on Wednesday (June 10 2015).
