Robber, rapist top prison matrics

A convicted robber serving a three-year jail term and a rapist serving an eight-year sentence are the top performers among inmates writing the 2014 matric exams.


The matric class of 2014 were assessed according to the Caps (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements). Since 1994, South African learners have followed four different curriculum. Education expert Peter Kriel says, thanks to Caps, the class of 2014 received a better standard of education than previous years. Watch.
