Barcelona - How immersive should your car's entertainment system be? "Completely" appears to be the answer if Qualcomm's idea becomes mainstream.

The company showed off its vehicle entertainment system in partnership with QNX at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week.

The system, demonstrated on a Mercedes Benz gave an indication of how mobile technologies could impact on cars in the near future.

The dark Mercedes sported a massive touch display that completely replaced the German manufacturer's car entertainment system.

The Android powered platform is able to offer in-car multi-tasking for driver information as well as gaming, for example.

But the car itself was also fitted with a range of sensors and cameras to augment driver information, potentially making driving safer.

Critics though, argue that an immersive car entertainment system may overwhelm drivers and contribute to accidents.

Check out this short video tour of the car.
