Cape Town – Sir Richard Branson is planning to create supersonic planes, that will be able to transport passengers from New York to Tokyo within one hour.

The planes will fly at a speed of 30 577km/h according to Branson

He however failed to mention the technology his company will be using.

According to a report on IB Times Branson plans to begin the new planes once his Virgin Galactic space tourism programme is up and running.

The fastest commercial flight, that travelled from New York to Tokyo was Concorde but the plane was retired ten years ago by British Airways.

Branson wants to see super-fast planes that are on a commercial level in his lifetime and plans to make the supersonic programme a priority.

The Galactic programme is said to be in the last stages of testing and is already being seen as a major opportunity by the rich and famous, especially by Hollywood stars like Leonardo DiCaprio.
