Cape Town - Sean "Day[9]" Plott has been recruited by Artillery, a startup that wants to bring Starcraft-quality strategy games to web browsers, TechCrunch reports.

Plott, who is one of the more well-known competitive Starcraft gaming commentators, will join Artillery in a game design role.

Plott is well known for his in-depth analysis on the Starcraft pro-gaming scene, and knows a lot about game balance, which is one of the most important factors in a strategy game aimed at the competitive scene.

Artillery says that they knew that Plott's skills would help them ensure that the game they were making would be built around their player base's needs.

Artillery's team is made up of people that have worked at Google, Facebook and Zynga, and has $2.5m in venture backing.

Plott said that he had told Artillery that their idea might not work, because of issues with latency and other problems similar games had in the past, but he was shown a working demonstration of the game, and said he was excited from that point on.
