Cape Town – Woolworths announced on their Facebook page that customers can use their debit, credit and Woolworths cards again to shop in-store.

This comes after an outage occurred on Wednesday during routine maintenance in the data centre affecting all stores, a spokesperson at Woolworths told News24.

"Gift cards are still offline, but we'll let you know when you can use them again too," the notice on their Facebook page said.

"The only transaction that cannot currently be processed in stores are gift cards and online shopping is currently down. About 95% of all store systems are currently running normally," the spokesperson said.

Woolworths informed customers on Wednesday that because of the outage they could not visit their online store, redeem gift cards, access certain customer service channels, use debit cards, use certain credit cards, buy air time or pay utility bills.
