Vital Run

WHEN: 12/01/2012 - 00:00
WHERE: Lourensford Wine Estate
The 21km and 10km are off-road all on Lourensford Wine Estate. The two routes follows the same initial course with the first 3km challenging followed by most scenic views. The 10km meanders back mainly downhill and level running to the finish while the 21km continues contouring along jeep track and farm road along the foot of the Helderberg, passing Brinksburg dam including Champagne Corner. Another hill climb between 8 - 9km marks - the second half mainly downhill on easy forest and farm road.

• 10km walk: 07h40
• 4km Fun run: 08h00
Participants can pre-enter online or enter on the day. Entries limited to 5000.
Red Bull Flugtag
WHEN: 12/09/2012
WHERE: V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
45 teamswill put their flying machines to the test in the Red Bull Flugtag challenge taking place at Cape Town’s V& A Waterfront on the 9th of December 2012.
An eclectic mix of the über serious to the just plain ridiculous, teams have started building their contraptions in the aim to wow the crowd and hopefully achieve flight. Cape Town-based team, the Cape Mayans are excited to be amongst the chosen teams. “We chose our name based on the fact we’re from the Cape and that the Mayan calendar says the world will end twelve days after Red Bull Flugtag.”

50 Miler Canoe Marathon

WHERE: Umzinyathi, Durban
This year is going to be explosive with a host of new and exciting details to make this event an-round fun event for the whole family. Prize money for this year amounts to a generous R56 200. Prizes in all
K1 categories depend on sufficient entries. The route for the Best 4 Healthcare 50 Miler has also changed and is set to be more challenging for canoeists.

SA Paragliding Winelands Open
WHEN: 12/16/2012
WHERE: Porteville, Western Cape
The SA Winelands Paragliding open promises to exceed the expectations of competition pilots from South Africa and around the world.
There will be two take off options as well as a separate staging area as the event takes flight in Porterville. Pilots need to be ready to fly between 10h00 and 11h00 to take advantage of the areas ideal conditions. This will be the last competition before the Paragliding World Cup to be hosted at the same venue in February 2013.
Friends of St Francis Nature Areas 10km Run
Start: 12/28/2012
End: St Francis Nature Reserve, Eastern Cape
The perfect race to shake off the excess of Christmas! The moderate and scenic 10km course is run through the St Francis Nature Reserve
– make sure you take note of your footing along the rocky shoreline.
The course returns past the lighthouse and the famous Seal Point surfing
spot. Pre-entries are taken at the Cape St Francis Mini market between 4pm and
6pm on the evening before the event and again at the start from 7am.
Walkers are welcome to take part in this special and unique holiday race
run in the beautiful holiday venue that is Cape St Francis.

Umhlanga Summer Carnival

The Homestead Sponsorship Programme Gala

The Homestead Sponsorship Programme's 2012 Art Auction and Gala Dinner on Saturday 1 December makes supporting a worthwhile cause fun. Award winning chefs Luke Dale-Roberts of Test Kitchen and Giorgio Nava of 95 Keerom have joined forces with Johans Borman Fine Art to stage The Homestead Sponsorship Programme's main fundraising event for 2012.
Luke and Giorgio will collaborate to create an inspirational menu for 100 patrons during a sit down dinner at the spectacular Old Land Bank Building Venue in Victoria Street, Gardens, Cape Town. Johans Borman Fine Art and specialist charity auctioneer Iain Banner will conduct the annual art auction in benefit of The Homestead Sponsorship Programme at the gala dinner event. Celebrity presenter Ashley Hayden, a passionate Homestead supporter, will be Master of Ceremonies for the night and Alwijn Burger of ALWIJN is the event planner for this fundraising effort which is generously supported by all the sponsors and artists involved.
Works of art by Gerard Sekoto, William Kentridge, Peter Clarke, Hennie Niemann Jnr and Ben Coutouvidis will be included in the auction.
Tickets
sell for R1 250 per person and includes a four course menu prepared by
Luke Dale-Robert and Giogio Nava, wine with every course, bottled water

Durbanville Beer Fest

This year promises to be an even bigger event showcasing more live bands, beer stalls and food stalls. This is a family event, with lots of entertainment for the kids.
The Durbanville Beer Festival showcases beers from South Africa's Craft breweries to the larger commercial brew masters bringing all beer lovers together to appreciate the fine craft of beer making.
Live Rock and Blues bands will keep all entertained with Rock 'n Roll DJ's keeping the crowd rocking throughout the day while rivers of beer will keep your thirsts quenched. Full bar facilities will be available
