Explosion: 1Time passenger wants answers

2012-06-15 12:05

A 2OceansVibe report detailing a passenger’s account of a loud explosion on 1Time flight T6 648 from Cape Town to Durban has gone unanswered by local budget airline.

According to the passenger, who wanted to remain anonymous, “the flight was going well until the final half hour, as the plane was preparing for its final approach. There was the loudest bang I have heard in a very long time – from the back of the plane. It sounded like an explosion.”

Questioning why, a week later the airline had failed to disclose what caused the loud bang, attempts to get a response have reportedly gone unanswered.

The big questions according to the passenger are, "Why do these issues get covered up? Why has the airline not contacted all the passengers to tell them what happened? Why are these issues not flagged and made public? ... And if they did find out what the issue was, should they not at least tell the passengers what it was?"

The budget airline has also recently been in the news for being the most on time airline and while it has cancelled its Lanseria route,it is said to looking to serve the Zimbabwe domestic market. Details of the regional deal are set to be announced on 29 June.
