Fog shuts Cape Town International

2013-05-24 11:08
Cape Town - Cape Town International Airport has closed down as heavy fog rolled in over the city on Friday morning.

"Heavy fog conditions have resulted in poor visibility at the airport. Inbound flights to Cape Town have been diverted. As a result of a knock-on effect the outgoing flights are now also delayed," says Deidre Davids, communications manager for Acsa at Cape Town International Airport.

She added that flight diversions do cause a fair amount of inconvenience but it is always safety first. Diversion airports range from OR Tambo George, PE,  and Upington.

Passengers shared their frustrations regarding delays as well as awe about the overwhelming act of nature.
