Girl tweets terror joke at airline, has meltdown

2014-04-14 10:25
Cape Town - Remember making hoax phone calls and thinking they were the funniest things in the world as a pre-teen?

And then having your parents find out and getting grounded for days?

Well, a 14-year-old girl with an overactive Twitter account got a lot more than a usual parental grounding when she sent American Airlines a hoax terror threat in a Tweet over the weekend.

Gawker reports that the young girl, simply known as Sarah or @queendemetriax_ on Twitter, tweeted what seemed to be an innocent little joke to the airline and got the fright of her life when they actually responded... with their own threat.

Although the airline did delete the tweet soon after, probably because they do not have either her IP address and "details," as those are details that only law enforcement can request, they still managed to freak young Sarah out and also assisted in getting her tweet to go viral.

Unsurprisingly she has been bombarded with user lambasting her for her insensitivity and immaturity.

Freaked out by the sudden attention, she started tweeting a hilarious string of defensive comebacks:

"OMG someone's knocking on the door. Maybe it's the FBI omgg"

"I need a lawyer. Any lawyers on here?"

"I blocked the FBI just in case"

While she did claim to be having a "tough time," she also reported that it was the "highlight of her twitter days" and that at least she would have something to "tell at school [tomorrow]."

In the mean time her Twitter account has had a complete overhaul - she now has only 6 tweets and 14 followers.

Ah, the folly of youth.

Check out these screen shots some of her tweets below:

Her fears were, however, outweighed by her instantaneous fame:

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that she also tweeted tweeted "I always wanted to be famous, but I meant like Demi Lovato famous, not Osama Bin Laden famous."
