SAA to refund customers who travelled after termination of baggage wrapping trial

2014-06-12 09:23
Johannesburg - South African Airways will be reimbursing its customers who purchased tickets during the baggage wrapping trial at ORTIA, but travelled after the trial had ended.

The airline affirmed its commitment in a statement released on Wednesday.

Customers who purchased tickets on SAA flights departing from OR Tambo International Airport from 28 October 2013 up until 22 May 2014 and travelled before 22 January 2014 or after 22 May 2014 can apply for a refund of R30 and R50 for domestic and international flights respectively. Conditions apply.

Airport Operation Stations at SAA’s domestic airports (Johannesburg, Durban, East London, Cape Town, and Port Elizabeth) will process refunds, with the exception of reservations that were made through travel agents.

In respect of travel agent bookings passengers will apply for and receive their refunds through their respective travel agents. In instances where the payment for tickets was made by debit cards/cash, ticket sales at the airports will process such refunds. Where a credit card was used the refund can still be processed at the airports.

Customers are advised to bring the following supporting documents or articles for refund processing:

- For credit card refunds: ID must be presented and the ticket will be refunded to the credit card that was used to purchase that ticket.

- For cash and debit transactions, ID and copy of the e-ticket must be presented.
