SAA trials new mobile payment system

Cape Town -  South African Airways (SAA) has announced it is the first airline to trial Standard Banks new MasterPass digital service, via Flysaa.com.

SAA said MasterPass, a digital wallet that allows users to store all their MasterCard or other branded credit, debit or cheque card information, and shipping and billing address details securely in one place, will allow passengers to make secure online payments without the repeated hassle of entering these details each time.

The digital wallet is activated via the digital scanning of a QR code issued by the app and is also available to non-Standard Bank users for online travle purchases.  Visit Flysaa adn follow the download steps.

“We are delighted at SAA to be among the first to embrace such an innovative solution. This creates convenience for passengers travelling on South African Airways,” says Tlali Tlali, SAA spokesperson. 


 
The latest MasterCard Online Shopping Behaviour Study revealed that 90 percent of South African consumers cited the availability of secure payment facilities as critical when shopping online. Concern around the safety of online transactions was the reason 42 percent gave for not shopping online, a 4 percent increase from last year.
