Seeking a single millionaire? Fly this airline

2013-11-01 10:24

Cape Town - At some stage in singledom, each of us has cherished a silly little fantasy about meeting soul mate, during a flight .

While it's highly unlikely, it's not totally impossible. And if you're looking to make the acquaintance of someone particularly wealthy, you best get booking your next international flight on American Airlines.

Huffington Post reports that this is the result of a SeekingMillionaire.com - a dating site for, you guessed it, single millionaires (yes, it exists!) - survey that conducted among more than 47 000 of their super wealthy and unattached clients.

Of that group, an overwhelming majority (30 496) flew American Airlines most often. The second and third runners up were Virgin Airlines (5 091) and Delta Airlines (4 327).

The survey also found that 73.2 percent of the eligible millionaires traveled alone while flying, 74 percent frequent an airline lounge and 78 percent are top-tier members of an airline's mileage program.

However, before you frantically start booking flights, there is one thing to consider...

“Flying coach won’t get you anywhere. Most millionaires will fly business or first class, even if they are traveling for leisure,” says Brandon Wade, who is a top-tier frequent flyer member with Delta, United and American Airlines. “Your best bet is to upgrade, or gain access to the frequent flier lounge.”

So, this made us wonder - what do our local millionaires fly? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below.
