Travel agents now able to book fastjet via GDS

South Africa – As many as 91 000 travel agents and tour operators in 190 markets,  are now able to access flight information and book tickets instantly with Fastjet, with the help of seven Global Distribution systems. 

The airline announced it is in partnership with Hahn Air Systems, making its flights available for booking via Amadeus, Apollo, AXESS, Galileo, Sabre, Sirena and Worldspan. 

Fastjet’s Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Bodin said that fastjet’s primary booking channel has historically been a direct one, with travel agents and passengers booking their tickets online at, in order to receive the greatest benefit of their low-cost model. 

“The availability of fastjet flights through all of the main GDS now allows travel agents to make use of their preferred booking and payment channels - either via fastjet’s dedicated agent portal or through a GDS of their choice,” Bodin said.  

Fastjet operates between Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. One way tickets via GDS are priced from R1 864, inclusive of all surcharges, airport charges, government taxes, and one checked-in 20kg bag. 

Flights are set to depart on these days from Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport at 10:30, and land at OR Tambo International Airport at 13:20. The return flight from Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam departs at 14:15 and lands at 18:50, with a three and a half hour flight time. 

Fastjet’s second international route between Dar es Salaam and Lusaka, is scheduled to start from 1 February 2014, and will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline also has a significant Tanzanian domestic network including Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Kilimanjaro and Mbeya, all of which are accessible via GDS.
