Funny safety demos

Cape Town - The start of a flight can be a rather tedious, if not downright traumatic affair, what with all the hustle and bustle preceding it and the uncomfortable close proximity with hundreds of strangers.

Definitely not everyone's favourite thing ever.

However, a bit of well-timed humour can do wonders to ease all the tension and calm the nerves.

This is exactly what happened on a Southwest Airlines flight from San Francisco to Chicago recently, when a flight attendant launched into a simply hilarious safety briefing. One of the passengers on board managed to capture the entire performance on camera and shared it on YouTube.

The video has all but gone viral, receiving over a million views in less than a week!

The monologue is littered with cute quips and well-meaning jabs like: "In the event you haven't been in an automobile since 1960, flight attendants still have to show you how to fasten a seatbelt."

When his assistant takes out an example of the life vest normally found under the seat he says: "And folks, please, this is a life vest, not a toilet seat cover."

According to David London, the YouTube user who loaded the video, the flight attendant also threw a cocktail party for everyone on board halfway through the flight.

How cool is that?
