Getaway Travel Blog Conference 2013

Are you a traveller at heart, who is unable to resist sharing your experiences? Want to know how to run a kick-ass travel blog? Then you have to attend the Getaway Travel Blog conference, now in its third year running.  The introduction of workshops to this year’s programme will give you the opportunity to pick and choose from a variety of practical and informative topics. Robertson Wine Fest returns to Gauteng


If you are a  Gautenger who enjoys a good wine, then don't miss this opportunity. Robertson Wine Valley is bring the best right to your doorstep. Joyous Celebration in Cape Town

Oppikoppi

The theme for this year's 18th annual OppiKoppi Festival is 'Sweet Thing'. Featuring seven different stages tickets cost R650 - R800. The line-up includes the likes of Mi Casa, Heuwels Fantasties, Fokofpolisiekar, Arno Carstens, Koos Kombuis and CrashCarBurn.

The Cradle Festival

The core festival and expo takes place in the heart of the Cradle, at the iconic, Maropeng Visitor Centre. Live entertainment includes Wendy & Kat from Sounds Like Thunder, Newton's 2nd Law and The Graeme Watkins Project. There will also be a Cheese & Wine Expo, Boutique Beer tastings and the Cradle Mountain MTB challenge being one of the key sporting events. Parents and kids can take advantage of the dedicated kids play area. Tickets cost R50.00 for adults and R25.00 for children and entrance to the Visitors Centre will be discounted on presentation of your Festival ticket.

Robertson Slow 2013




Twenty-six wineries and guesthouses in and around Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Robertson will be participating in the 7th Robertson Slow - an experience to be enjoyed slowly. Guests can look forward to traditional homemade fare along with some of South Africa's finest wines. Other activities at this popular wine festival include Horse Riding, Boat Cruises and Fynbos and Renosterveld Walks as well as vineyard tours.

Klein Karoo Klassique


A festival in celebration of the Karoo. Come and experience classical music and Klein Karoo cuisine, wines and art. You will enjoy the classical sounds of a string quartet, a piano duo (piano & cello) two piano recitals, a performance of Lieder, a wind instrument quintet, an organ recital and the performance of an a capella choir. Klein Karoo potters, painters and other visual artists such as Thijs Nel and Francois Gerber will exhibit in various venues and there will also be practical painting workshops.

Good Food & Wine Show Durban

If you're a foodie evangelist then this is one event not to be missed as you will be entertained and educated by a host of local and international celebrity chefs.  The line-up includes James Martin who is a regular face on South African television; Vivek Singh of London’s Cinnamon Club who has transformed the face of Indian cooking; Anjali Pathak, an exciting talent in the Indian food and spice arena and part of the famous Patak spice family and vegan baker Mellissa Morgan who is known to her legions of fans around the world as Ms Cupcake.

Head to this beautiful city of Durban for an event that an extraordinary gourmet experience as it unveils the latest cutting-edge global trends and tastes.

The Big Bee Festival

If you’ve been dreaming of visiting Swellendam, this is your chance. You will experience the surrounding canola fields in full Bloom. The line-up of performers includes Chris Chameleon, Anton Goosen, Joe Martin, Gian Groen, The Ride, Girls of Rock, Mady Abrahams, Joe F, Guy Buttery and many more.

Otherwise participate in the Breede River Bee Paddle, Bee Big 4x4, Bushwhack Outride, Ball Bashing for Brandy or the Barrydale Bowls Bonanza. On Women's Day, there are conferences, retreats and activities especially for you to enjoy including a Queen Bee Walk in the park to raise awareness for Breast cancer. Standard Bank Joy of Jazz

The Joy of Jazz festival is now in its 13th year and the line up is set to mark this huge anniversary as world-class jazz superstars will be performing at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz this year.

This year’s edition sees a line up of artists from America, Sweden, Spain and the Netherlands and joining them will be top performers from South Africa and the African Diaspora.

Spread across six venues in Newtown, dubbed the arts centre of Gauteng, jazz lovers are going to be spoilt for choice.

The annual jazz extravaganza attracted around 2 000 music lovers in its first year and has now grown to an audience of well over 20 000 people.

Although there are free concerts for you as well as concerts where you will need a ticket, tickets are priced from R150.00 and are available at Computicket.

Clanwilliam Wild Flower Show




Clanwilliam, the gateway to South Africa’s finest floral region - so come and experience the exclusive flora in the Clanwilliam district and Ramskop Nature Reserve. The walks on the laid-out paths also offer a beautiful view over the Clanwilliam Dam and of the Cederberg Mountains. The official opening of the Clanwilliam Wild Flower Show will take place on the 24 August at 18h00. The show is open from 08h00 to 19h00 daily and the entry fee is R25 for adults, R20 for pensioners and R5 for children.

Various exciting activities like music performances, art competitions for kids, hiking trails and trips are on offer throughout the show which promises a memorable experience for the whole family.

KwaZulu-Natal Music Imbizo


This yearly expo aims at collecting all pertinent industry players under one roof to breathe life into the KwaZulu-Natal music industry.

Mercury Wine Week


The Mercury Wine Week is SA's premier wine event and boasts the largest selection of Cape wines under one roof. A magnificent array of undiscovered treasures and old favourites will be on display from over 100 estates, alongside delicatessen food. KwaZulu-Natal's longest standing wine show provides ample opportunity to sample some great wine.

Tickets are on sale through Computicket at R100 per person, or buy at the door on the night. Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Mercury Hibberdene Children’s Holiday Home. No under 18’s at the event. Drink responsibly.
