Protea Fire and Ice: Sunday best

One of the funkiest hotels around is adding a new spin to the high tea concept.

Protea Hotels, Africa’s largest hotel group, wants to help Santa find out if you've been naughty or nice.

Its latest 3-D guest experience, available at the hotels in Melrose Arch and Cape Town, lets you download a free mobile device service to your smartphone that reveals your supposed inner-nature.

A simple scanning of drinks coasters found inside the hotel, activates the application to reveal whether you're naughty or nice via Fire & Ice! inspired virtual characters. You then stand a  chance of winning prizes ranging from a free coffee to free nights at the hotel.

Protea Hotels Group Marketing Manager Nicholas Barenblatt said that an augmented reality experience was the next logical step for the quirky hotels and that they will continue to push boundaries through service standards, product offering and design.

For more information and/or to download the Naughty or Nice App, go to: Protea Hotel Fire and Ice! Cape Town or Melrose Arch.
