How South Africans plan and fund their holiday

2013-11-04 14:28
Whether you've been a good little elf or are the grouchy grinche of all things festive - the end-of-year madness is due to descend on all and sundry.

But despite all the chaos, it does bring with it the promise of an extended break - well for some of us.

An independent survey of 1 000 South Africans conducted by the Avios Group Limited shows that the majority of South Africans only go on holiday once, or at the very least twice a year.

According to this infographic produced from the survey results, 32% of holidaymakers only go for between three and five days, with 76% of the respondents who recently travelled keeping it local with coastal holidays to KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape ranking highest.

Travellers also indicated that cost was a big factor when considering a holiday, with 39% saying it has become too expensive and a further 59% stating the need to budget when planning a holiday.

Despite 75% of folks who plan their trips well in advance, 1 in three holidaymakers surveyed needs to pay for the trip on their credit card; flights, accommodation and spending money all being given the plastic treatment.

Whether you're part of this group or fall into the other 25% (Essentially we're doing this for you) - we'd like to know, How are you planning to spend your holiday and what travel planning questions do you need answered?
