Davey du Plessis' adventure to raise awareness about earth conservation almost cost him his life after he was shot and left for dead in the Peruvian jungle.

What is it that makes some individuals decide to risk it all in pursuit of an adventure or a goal that often defies logic or reason? We take a look at some of the protagonists in possible story-lines best described as an internal adrenalin war – where the need to go harder, longer and faster than anybody else before them motivates to extremities beyond comprehension.

Watch Davey Du Plessis talk about his Amazon adventure and his sleepless nights due to fear of the expedition - yet he just had to do it anyway. He is recovering in a Lima hospital after two youths robbed him before shooting him in the Peruvian Jungle. He imagined the risks to be more from the elements he would face during his 6 500km of hiking, cycling and paddling across the South American Continent. His aim is to raise awareness of the Amazon and the need for earth conservation as he completes a self-documented solo navigation of the river from its source in the Andes all the way to where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean.
