Airbnb gone wrong: man returns home to a 'XXX Freak Fest'

2014-03-18 13:57
New York - Been thinking about making some extra cash by renting out your room or apartment on Airbnb?

Well, while 90% of the time it would probably be totally cool, this might make you super careful about who you let in.

Time reports that New York comedian Ari Teman came back to his Chelsea apartment Friday night to quickly pick up his bag before heading away for the weekend, only to find it infested by a 'a disgusting, illegal, dangerous sex ring,' as one of his tweets read

Teman had earlier made an agreement with a man called David, who had contacted him via Airbnb - a startup that lets users seek out non-hotel travel accommodations listed by other users - about accommodation for his brother and sister-in-law for the weekend. They were apparently in the city to attend a wedding.

However, when Teman arrived at his apartment block, he had a funny feeling that things had gone completely wrong... maybe it was the scandalised looks cast by the doorman or perhaps the disgruntled superintendent.

By the time Teman made it up to his apartment, he discovered a rather dodgy gathering.

He wrote in an open letter to Airbnb posted on his blog: "You just sent a porn sex fest into my apartment, and now I’ve got over $87 076 in losses. I had to call 911 and have these 'XXX Freak Fest' people removed from my apartment, my super is having me evicted by my landlord, and I do not feel safe here anymore since hundreds of people got a text saying there’s an XXX sex fest in my apartment and continue showing up, according to the doormen who I’ll  never be able to look in the face again."

As if that wasn't bad enough, the poor guy is also facing eviction... not to mention the fact that an unknown number of sex freaks have his address!
"This can no longer be my home. The stress and fear that a large band of 'XXX Freak Fest' individuals have my address and keys to my home is unreal and my friend (who helped me carry my wet and dirty stuff back into the apartment (I don’t even want to know how it’s wet) was even too afraid to stay here and encouraged me to leave. The super is also working to have me evicted," he wrote.
