Elephant vs Hippo

2013-11-12 11:40
An angry elephant literally flipped a mother hippopotamus, weighing an estimated ton, into the air as the hippo stood its ground in order to protect her baby calf.

The Daily Mail reports South African Photographer, Rian van Schalkwyk was on hand at the Erindi Private Game Reserve in Windhoek, Namibia to capture the dramatic confrontation.

Thankfully the event does not end tragically as the hippo, and baby, emerge relatively unscathed. Watch this BarcrofTV compilation of Van Schalkwyk's images.
