Cape Town - Now, we know how the craft beer culture is growing right? And if you love beer, then this should be of particular interest to you.

A recent Huffington Post article lists 8 cities that are somewhat underrated but totally and completely awesome because of one equally awesome thing – beer.

And guess what? Cape Town made the list (obviously).

Cape Town, known more for its stunning wine routes and culture, is being met by increased interest in beer.

Other cities mentioned by Huffington Post include Russia's St Petersburg, New Mexico's Santa Fe, South Carolina's Mrytle beach, Chile's Santiago, San Diego in California, Nebraska's Omaha, and Kalamazu in Michigan.

It gets more amazing for Cape Town

A site called coffeebeansroutes.com has established a beer route that will take travellers to popular craft beer spots such as Banana Jam in Kenilworth. The route also affords the opportunity for you to learn about traditional African beer brewing from a traditional brewer, taste samples of craft beer and also visit one of South Africa’s oldest commercial commercial brewery in Newlands.

How awesome?

There are also some really cool festivals one can look forward to this year that appreciate the awesomeness that is beer.

•    The Cape Town Festival of Beer taking place in November
•    Durbanville Beer Fest in December

Johannesburg is also catching a piece of this trend, with the annual Jozi Craft Beer Festival taking place on Saturday 10 May 2014. Click here for details.

And did you know there's even a naked beer festival - but we won't be going to that one just yet.
