Man tries crossing border squashed in suitcase

2014-03-04 14:08

A migrant from Mali was found squashed inside an average-sized suitcase, attempting to enter the Spanish enclave of Melilla.WATCH

Melilla - A 19-year-old immigrant from Mali was arrested in the Spanish enclave of Melilla after trying to cross over into the European territory hidden inside a suitcase.

Metro reports that Spanish border officials released video footage of the moment the tall 19-year-old from Mali was freed from the luggage of a fellow traveller.

Watch the video here.

They became suspicious when the seemingly heavy and unevenly packed bag, being dragged by a 39-year-old Moroccan man, started wiggling around.

Both men were arrested and remain in custody.

A similar incident took place late last year when a Thai woman was discovered inside luggage being taken across the border between Mexico and the US.
