Zambia- Protea Hotels is set to open a new, chic property in Lusaka in April 2014.

Set to be the fourth Protea Hotel in Zambia, this property has nine storeys, 137 rooms and is situated in the Arcades Shopping and Entertainment lifestyle hub, opposite the Mulungushi Conference Centre.

Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue for the Protea Hospitality Group said that the decision to create this hotel was driven by the increasing demand for accommodation and conferencing facilities in Lusaka. He continued to say that Lusaka is a vibrant capital and has become one of Africa’s top business centres.

The hotel boasts the following features:
-four suites
-30 twin deluxe rooms
-103 king deluxe rooms
-swimming pool
-ninth floor restaurant and bar
-two meeting rooms
-three boardrooms (these will complement conferencing facilities already available at neighbouring Protea Hotel Lusaka which accommodates 80 delegates)

Protea Hotels expects to expand its Lusaka and Zambian footprint significantly in the next five years.

The development of Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower is one of several builds across Africa under the Protea Hotels and African Pride Hotels banners, including hotels in two new countries – Rwanda and Ghana.

The total value of the new builds throughout Africa that will carry the standards of Africa’s largest hotel group is approximately US$100 million or R1.09 billion at R10.99/$.
