The biggest, baddest bucket list ever
2013-01-29 10:31
Ever dreamed of jet setting around the globe without stop? Have no idea how you'd ever manage to fund it? Dreaming up a plan to rob a bank, or maybe a casino?
Stop right there!
My Destination has come up with a much easier, and less stressful way to realise your dream.
With the launch of their brand new Biggest, Baddest Bucket list competition, you stand a chance to win a six-month, all expenses paid trip across six continents, as well as a cash prize of US$50 000 (R450 000) to spend on anything you want once you return to home shores. How cool is that? None of those depressing post-travel broke blues! And if you bring a partner, all their accommodation will be paid as well.
But, here's the catch! There are only two weeks left to enter!
So, how do you go about it?
There are three simple steps:
1. Make a video showcasing
your favourite destination. Show off the icons, the secret spots and
the best places to eat. Share your passion about the place. And don't
worry if you don't have the latest in video equipment, filming it on a
smart phone can even do the trick, as entries will be judged on the
content, not the resolution. Remember, the quirkier the better!
2. Tell a travel tale of
about 500 words in blog post style. Share your favourite, most
terrifying, strangest travel memory in the most colourful way you can.
3. Illustrate with photos. Add three photos to your post to illustrate your story. Dig out your camera, phone or root through your memory box. Haven't got suitable pictures? Re-enact the scene and get snap happy! You will need to submit three photos, no more, no less..
The competition is held in partnership with a series of international associates including Hotels.com, Travelex and Viator. The closing date is 31st March 2013. Ben Southall, winner of Tourism Queensland's ‘Best Job In The World', will preside over the entrants as guest judge.
If in the event, you do not win the grand globe trotting prize, My Destination has gone and softened the blow by rewarding the top 10 runners up with an all expenses paid, week-long trip to London.
And as if that's not incentive enough, the best local entries will also receive exciting prizes:
Two Ocean helicopter flight with Cape Town Helicopters
Half-day bicycle safari with Bike & Saddle
Three lunches for 2 people at Chaf-Pozi in Soweto
Entry dates:
31st March - applications close
12th April - top ten announced and final round of voting opens
26th April - top three finalist chosen
7th May - final winner announced
8th June - the trip of a lifetime begins
So, what are you waiting for?
