News24 Travel reader, Stephan Smith, contacted us to share his story in response to the piece detailing alleged baggage tampering captured on camera at Cape Town International Airport.

"I flew from Somalia on leave to Windhoek, Namibia on the 17th of January. I flew with SAA from Johannesburg to Windhoek (SA 078 - 18:55). Upon arrival in Windhoek, I found my luggage ripped open and 4 bottles of perfume (Which I bought on board Kenya Airways and packed in my luggage in Jhb) stolen. My bag was closed with cable ties, but was simply ripped open along the zipper. I now know you cannot fly through South Africa without wrapping your luggage in plastic."
